Acquisitions Transaction Manager

This is a genuinely exciting opportunity to join a key team in a dynamically growing sector. The Acquisition Transactions Manager will perform a key role in the growing Offshore Wind New Business team of Iberdrola. In collaboration with the Iberdrola Corporate Development team the role will focus on managing multiple acquisition transactions around the world to grow Iberdrola’s pipeline of project in the offshore market. This role provides a unique opportunity to work in the world’s largest renewable generator in its core growth area of offshore wind. The offshore wind market is forecast to be one of the most rapidly growing markets over the next 10 years and key to the energy transition and fight to avert climate change.

Purpose

This role sits in the New Business Transaction Services Team and reports to the SPR Head of Transaction Services & Supply Chain Strategy, with responsibility for managing Acquisition Transactions activities of the new business Transaction Services & Supply Chain Strategy team, a team of two Senior Investment Analysts and the organic growth opportunities through providing commercial input and value proposals for tender rounds.

Skills and Requirements

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent, preferably with Masters or professional qualification (eg MBA, CA, ACCA, CIMA).
  • Highly driven, decisive and focussed with strong commercial, financial and due diligence skills.
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities and strives to match the Company’s behavioural objectives.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and within a highly pressurized environment.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to lead and challenge transaction strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Extensive proven experience of managing geographically diverse, multi-disciplinary teams of experienced professionals.
  • A deep understanding of the energy markets, the key players within these and how they may relate to Iberdrola Group activities is required to ensure that strategy remains optimal.
  • Expert understanding of financial, commercial and business principles and risk mitigation practices.
  • Proven ability to persuade, challenge and build credibility at all levels and within all functions of the organization.
  • Experience of managing JV relationships and delivering partners’ expectations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to form effective working relationships.
  • Self-motivated and able to manage time effectively.
  • Good practical knowledge of IT applications / systems.
  • ‘To be successful in a role you will need to demonstrate as minimum’:

  • Extensive relevant commercial working experience, within Offshore Wind or Oil & Gas, or equivalent lines of business.
  • Experience in contracting in the offshore environment.
  • Experience of negotiating commercial agreements for projects in excess of £100m capital expenditure.
  • Experience in running multi-functional teams across various countries.
  • IT literate with the ability to operate MS Office systems and other IT based project management software.
  • Flexible to travel around the UK and overseas.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English.
  • Responsibilities

    Investments

  • Manage Portfolio of Investment Acquisition Transactions and reporting of new Investment Projects (up to 10 projects at a time, each project with potential capex of up to €5bn) including coordinating with Corporate Development, preparation of associated Due Diligence reports & presentations coordinating valuation with Investment Office, & preparation of Investment Approval presentations
  • Interacting with JV counterparties, Sellers and their Advisors, Corporate Development, form a view on Transaction structure and viability and present proposals for approval to Iberdrola Renewables Offshore senior management.
  • Coordinating with Corporate Development and external advisors, and multi-disciplinary teams across the business and corporate functions, manage the Senior Investment analysts in completion of due diligence processes.
  • Managing the team of Senior Investment Analysts, review and submission for approval of commercial proposition for Acquisition Transactions.
  • In conjunction with Corporate Development manage the transaction negotiation and documentation processes.
  • Provide commercial input and value proposals to the New Business team on organic lease / seabed options and offtake tender rounds (e.g. CfD or PPA).
  • General

  • Support the Head of Transaction Services and Supply Chain Strategy and the Offshore Senior Leadership team, by undertaking ad-hoc project activities.
  • Participate in cross-business and cross-functional projects and meetings to contribute to the achievement of objectives, building relationships and developing knowledge of the UK Energy Market.
  • Team Working

  • Provide professional leadership for the New Business Transactions team.
  • A significant level of interaction and coordination of staff within the Business and across multiple Corporate functions is required to ensure successful delivery of team objectives. This involves delegation, coaching, analysis/review of output of staff and their line managers, while being aware/sensitive to the competing priorities of their ongoing workload. Close interaction with the Investment Office and Corporate Development is required and this may require regular travel relating to transactions.
  • What We Offer

    This is a Permanent contract, offering a Salary Circa £58,000 per annum, a monthly car allowance of £450, a performance related bonus up to 15% and family cover health care.
