The Division is expanding rapidly with complex, high-profile defence projects including Type 31 Frigate Design & Build Programme worth £1.5 billion. Therefore, we are seeking a Commercial Specialist who would like to join us at Rosyth to support, manage and provide compliance to prime contract obligations in accordance with delegated authority approval and commercial process requirements across this high profile project.

As the Commercial Manager, you will work collaboratively with the project teams within the high profile and fast paced T31 project and will provide commercial leadership and expertise associated to the prime obligations, subcontract and agreement risk mitigation, compliance activities and reporting during contract execution. You will support and maintain the commercial point of contact to customers and wider stakeholders to enable an open and transparent working relationship focused on resolving issues as they arise. In addition, support and manage the commercial team/resource as appropriate to achieve operational performance.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Make commercial decisions within agreed levels of financial authority that bind/commit the Company. Negotiate and agree Prime Contract amendments and Agreements/Subcontracts within delegated levels of financial delegation.
  • Evaluate and finalise the negotiation of claims on Prime Contracts and Agreements/Subcontracts within delegated levels of financial delegation.
  • Implement strategies to mitigate commercial risk arising during tender or contract performance.
  • Manage and lead a number of commercial staff ensuring functional and business stream objectives are met along with establishing suitable development plans for each individual.
  • Act on behalf of, and within, the Head of Commercial Delegated Authority financial and contractual authority as appropriate.

  • What do I need to do the role?

    Ideally, you will be Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Engineering, Business, Law, Accountancy but this is not essential. We are looking for a motivated individual who is eager to develop and progress their career. We would like you to have extensive knowledge of contract and bid management as well as managing and developing teams. In depth knowledge of commercial terms and agreements, significant awareness of UK MOD contracting methods, strategies and effective proven negotiation skills and leadership, supported by high resilience.
    What else do I need to know?

    You will work 37 hours per week Monday to Friday with flexible working and you must be able to achieve the appropriate level of Security Clearance.
