Engineer – IPMS (Integrated Platform Management System)
BAE Systems’ Global Combat Ship has been chosen as the design for the Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC), with the contract awarded to Lockheed Martin Canada by Irving Shipbuilding. This successful partnership will help in offering the Royal Canadian Navy one of the most advanced and modern anti-submarine warships in the world. We currently have a vacancy for an Engineer – IPMS at our site in Scotstoun.
As an Engineer – IPMS, you will be working with your Supervisor to deliver all aspects of engineering deliverables including Stage 1 & Stage 2/3 Design, and Change, PQ closure, NC closure, etc.
This role will provide you will have the opportunity to work with a Foreign National Customer on an international programme which will also give you scope for travel abroad to Canada where you can actually meet with and work face to face with the customer. You will be part of an expanding team with scope for developmental opportunities within your current team or through the wider business. IPMS deal with 47 different systems on the ship which is an excellent way to learn how Naval ships or ships in general work as you’re going to be the person that helps control them.
Your main responsibilities as an Engineer – IPMS will involve:
Providing engineering support to the delivery of projects/programmes that are likely to have a value in excess of millions of pounds and have a significant headcount.
Supporting on the development of engineering design and production output data for the project, including responsibility for the Stage 1 Engineering Team within cost, schedule and quality targets.
Supporting IPMS engineering management activities, authorising budget and resource allocations.
Your skills and qualifications:
Experience in C & I Design
Experience in Life Cycle Management reviews of Bids and Programmes
Knowledge of Electrical Engineering Safety Regulations; e.g. Lloyds
Preferably coming from Maritime, Naval, Aeronautical or an Offshore background
Knowledge and understanding of Project Management Techniques
