LOLER Focal Point

Overview / Responsibilities:

Wood is currently recruiting for a LOLER Focal Point on North Cormorant on a permanent basis.

Basic Purpose of Job:

  • To carry out Lifting Operations on site in accordance with the Client’s Standard for Lifting Operations
  • Health, Safety and Environmental Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all work is conducted in full compliance with the Client’s HS&E policy, procedures and Safety Management System
  • Comply with all relevant Wood Group HS&E policies and procedures where appropriate
  • Actively participate and support all Client and Wood Group Health, Safety & Environmental plans, initiatives and improvements
  • Carry out all activities in accordance with ISSOW including the following:
  • Comprehensive and detailed Risk Assessments and Toolbox Talks
  • Stop and re-asses any job where change is identified
  • Work preparation
  • Report all accidents and incidents
  • Carry out Emergency Response duties in accordance with Client’s requirements
  • Main Duties:

  • Accountable to ensure all hoisting and lifting activities are carried out to the agreed LOLER Scheme of Compliance.
  • To review and approve all lifting operations, lifting plans and risk assessments.
  • Responsible for ensuring all personnel involved in lifting operations meet the minimum competence standards.
  • Carry out audits on lifting operations to ensure compliance.
  • Liaise with Onshore Support and appropriate offshore departments for effective planning of Lifting Operations ensuring approvals in place where required.
  • Accountable for the management of rigging loft, hoisting and rigging equipment and certification control, including fall arrest equipment
  • Continually review and appraise platform riggers performance and VQ competence and provide feedback to Services Co-ordinator.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and be able to apply it in the workplace
  • Support daily and weekly planning process as required
  • Carry out emergency response duties where necessary
  • Accountable for relevant safety critical activities as detailed in the Activity Catalogue.

  • Skills / Qualifications:

  • NVQ level 3 Moving Loads or working towards
  • OPITO Lifting Operations Stages up to level 3
  • LOLER planning and Risk Assessment
  • ISSOW at appropriate level
  • A minimum of 2 years previous experience in Lifting Operations
  • Lifting Gear Inspection/Examiner
  • Working knowledge of creating computer based lift plans & risk assessments
  • Microsoft Office Experience
