We are now looking for an apprentice for our service organisation in MHI Vestas Offshore Wind. You will initially be based at Fraserburgh College Campus (NESCol) carrying out both classroom and workshop activities. This will be followed by practical work experience at any of our many offshore windfarms.

You will spend most of your time working offshore, and depending on the location of the wind farm, you will either live on the offshore service vessel working on a 14 days on/14 days off rotation scheme, or you will be transported daily from our onshore base to the wind farm. You should therefore expect to be travelling to various locations.

Tasks & responsibilities: You will…

…work in teams of between 2 and 6 persons and be managed daily by the Site Supervisor. As an apprentice, you will be an integrated part of the team. The task includes routine checks, scheduled maintenance and troubleshooting of the electrical and mechanical systems, and component replacement on our offshore wind turbines.

You will also be responsible for:

  • Learning electrical and mechanical operations and systems
  • Maintenance and upgrading installation activities
  • Compliance to MHI Vestas Health and Safety Management System
  • Creating follow-up work orders and ordering parts
  • Registration of time and material consumption in A/X, our CMMS System

    …has a keen interest in how things work and electrical and mechanical principles and has a desire to become a highly competent multiskilled engineer in the renewable energy industry. As an apprentice at MHI Vestas, we expect you to be curious and eager to learn, and that you will thrive in a role with a steep learning curve. As a person, you are flexible and a reliable team player.

    We expect that you:

  • Have the following qualifications: 5 GCSE in the core subjects’ grades 5-9, Higher or A- Levels in a related subject or NVQ in a relevant subject
  • Have a high level of safety awareness
  • Are comfortable working away from home and at height in an offshore environment
  • Are willing to travel to other sites when required for work or attend training courses
