£44,800 – £67,200 depending on skills and experience + excellent benefits + car/cash allowance + annual bonus

About the Department

SSE Renewables is the UK and Ireland’s leading renewable energy company. Our aim is to be the largest and most efficient developer of onshore and offshore wind in the UK and Ireland. We drive new growth by identifying, developing, building and operating high quality assets in GB, Ireland and internationally. Our Capital Projects teams are responsible for developing and building our Renewables Assets, both onshore and offshore with a focus on maximising the value of our current pipelines, whilst pursuing new markets.


What is the Role?

Sitting within the UK Onshore Project Team, this role will involve managing every aspect of the project development process within the SSE Large Capital Project framework. It involves working with Consents, Planning, Land, Engineering, Financial and Legal experts within the business in the assessment of opportunities, development, refinement and delivery of the projects. There will also be extensive collaboration with 3rd party consultants, local authorities, the Scottish Government and joint venture development partners.

The team are currently developing a strong pipeline of projects within the Onshore Wind, Pumped Storage Hydro and Solar sectors. The majority are in the UK, with an increasing number being overseas.


What do I need?

We are looking for someone who has demonstrable experience in large project development, preferably from within the energy market.

You’ll need experience managing multi-million pound development budgets, delivering business cases and have strong numerical skills.

Due to the nature of this role, you will also require the following;

  • Membership of a relevant professional body.
  • The ability to manage varied work streams across a variety of disciplines.
  • Competence in filtering and prioritising workloads.
  • The ability to think laterally and find innovative solutions, whilst adhering to a quality assured process.
  • A passion for problem solving and thinking flexibly.
  • Experience in defining, as well as following process.
  • A background encompassing the collaboration requirements of joint ventures.
  • Knowledge of either planning or consenting processes would be highly beneficial.
