Safety Training Co-ordinator – Platform Drilling
A vacancy has arisen for the position of Safety Training Co-ordinator working a 3/3 rotation on the TAQA contract in the UK sector. Initially, this role will be an onshore role, based in the Aberdeen office to be part of the team planning for platform ramp up.
The Safety Training Co-ordinator shall provide support & assistance to the Offshore Management Team to deliver safe operations compliant to company & client policies & procedures.

Provide support & assistance to the offshore team to:
achieve compliance to company & client verification & assurance schemes
achieve objectives & targets within the Competency Assurance programme
facilitate experience transfer
maintain proactive relationships with client interfaces
Have a real time understanding of platform activities including short & long term plans.
Know assigned crews & disciplines understanding team strengths & dynamics.
Promote the use of client behavioural safety cards by all personnel assigned to drilling activities.
Participate in toolbox talks & local risk assessments providing HSE specific input with coaching & supporting as necessary to continually improve quality & team involvement
Respect confidentiality of company and client activities.
Inductions & Training
Support/manage review/amendment of L4 procedures to maintain effective document control.
Provide guidance & support to crew in the use of Level 1 – 4 procedures in the Company Management System (CMS).
Provide training & support to drill crew to ensure understanding & compliance to the SMS Interface Document.
Prepare material for & provide support/guidance for STP in managing weekly safety meetings.
Conduct/manage inductions for personnel working in drilling areas; OD, well service personnel & contractors.
Assist platform HSEA conduct on-boarding inductions.
Facilitate offshore training as required
Develop & roll out campaigns in line with asset HSE Plan
Drive & support delivery of company & client campaigns.
Perform Dropped Object inspection/management training with all personnel working in drilling areas.
Manage self-verification plan & assign/collate reports to/from Leadership Team.
Manage ‘Area Ownership’ weekly inspections – assign/collate checklists to/from Leadership Team.
Manage ‘DROPS Inspections’ – assign/collate reports to/from Driller, MTL & Deck Foreman.
Conduct & report on procedural compliance audits to plan.
Perform daily verification checks on permits, document control, handover notes etc. & provide coaching as required to maintain company expectations.
Perform practical assessments on activities within your area of competence.
Conduct assessment verification reviews submitted by offshore crew before submitting onshore.
Provide coaching to Assessors & Candidates on expectations & reporting requirements.
Maintain an up to date awareness of UKCS & UK legislation.
Present safety performance update during morning operational calls with offshore/onshore teams.
Review all cards (behavioral & Safety Check) on daily basis, enter into client/internal (as applicable) systems/databases, communicate issues to applicable parties, facilitate/monitor close out including reporting back on actions to the originator where possible.
Develop / maintain local systems for recording & analysing data & reporting results.
Provide weekly updates on progress to HSE Plan & Action Tracker achievement.
Participate in regular HSE performance reviews with onshore team & client.
Provide HSE input at all pre-shift briefing based on risks from upcoming activities.
Conduct incident investigations on low severity/potential events.
Participate in client led & Level 2/3 incident investigations.
Co-ordinate closure of incident investigation, audit & inspection actions raised internally, by client or regulators using client & company IT systems.
Active involvement with client & industry safety groups.
Provide ideas, opportunities, challenges to operations to develop, improve & share continuous improvement.
Participate in onshore QHSE Team meetings
Ramp-Up & Commissioning
Manage issue, collating & progress reporting on equipment familiarisation training for drill crews.
Participate in platform HSE meeting/campaigns/training etc to facilitate experience transfer into drilling & well service activities.
Participate in client HSE team meetings & contribute on drilling activities.
Support platform management achievement of HSE plans through application of safety tools by drill crews.
Develop working knowledge on client policies & procedures with operational understanding of primacy as defined within the SMS interface document.
Review Red Zone HAZID & applicable L3 & L4 procedures, provide training & monitor compliance.
Implement DROPS Management & provide appropriate training.
Implement Area Ownership & provide appropriate training.
Facilitate & provide progress reports on OEM training/assessment by OEMs.
Provide coaching & support to well service personnel to achieve PA status.
Understand & apply platform ER plans & requirements for all areas.
Understand ER hardware & software on the platform as defined within the safety case.
Competent in applicable ER activities to provide training/coaching to personnel working in drilling areas.
Ability to identify conditions in drilling related areas that could lead to an emergency situation
Ability to identify condition in other areas, within their sphere of experience, that could lead to an emergency
Ability to act accordingly in an emergency situation
Understanding of rig abandonment procedure
Fire, Accident & Rig Abandonment:
Review, audit, inspection, reporting & maintenance of company procedures & client’s control of work systems. Training, coaching & mentoring personnel to maintain company standards. Reporting operational & personnel performance to STP.

Technical education or equivalent practical/theoretical knowledge
3 years offshore experience within a drilling team / crew
3 years offshore experience on fixed platforms in the UKCS
Experience as offshore Safety Rep or Committee Member
Experience in delivering classroom & on-the-job training
Experience of working within a Competency Assurance Programme
SQA/NVQ or equivalent Assessor/Verifier qualifications
Essential to have current NEBOSH qualification
Internal audit experience
COSHH assessor training
Incident investigation (COMET preferred but not essential)
All current and valid offshore certification
Proficient in the use of IT software and IT systems
