    Team Purpose and Objectives

    To support the industry’s contribution to the energy transition needed for the UK’s to achieve a net-zero

    future by 2050. Using the resources and capability of the wider industry to drive change, deliver value and

    secure a sustainable future.

    We will do this by shaping policy, regulation and delivery in the UK & EU in support of objectives, managing

    stakeholder relations with BEIS, HMT, DIT, DEFRA, CCC, HMG, Scottish Gov’t and other devolved bodies,

    regulators such as OGA, OFGEM etc. and the broader finance and investment community, providing market

    insight which assists the organisation and industry to highlight opportunities and identify risks with

    appropriate mitigation.

    Job Purpose

  • To support the industry in its drive to achieve a meaningful reduction in its carbon footprint,
  • working closely with other experts within the organisation to help the industry address the net-

    Zero challenge and appropriately reduce their carbon footprints, within the context of a broader

    sustainability agenda;

  • Working within a team to developing policies and aid their implementation with respect to both emission
  • reduction in the oil and gas industry, and through the provision of carbon capture, transportation and

    storage services to other sectors, including Hydrogen production, providing appropriate analysis and

    strategic insight whilst engaging with industry, regulators and Governments.

    Responsibility:
    As delegated

    Team Size: 9

    Stakeholders: OGUK Board and Membership; Leadership Team; Regulators including: the

    OGA, HMT, BEIS, DIT; Ofgem; DEFRA, CCC, HMG and Scottish

    Government and other devolved bodies, trade / industry associations and

    professional bodies.

    Key Accountabilities : (maximum of 11)

  • To provide policy advice in support of the teams aims and objectives related to delivery of the
  • Energy Transition and net-Zero agenda,

  • To develop the analytical and knowledge base within OGUK in support of the above with respect
  • to GHG emission reduction and CO2 and methane in particular, including the development of

    suitable databases,

  • To develop the analytical and knowledge base within OGUK in support of the above with respect
  • CCUS and Hydrogen,

  • And, in doing so, provide an analytical basis to a potential Sector Deal and its subsequent
  • implementation once the Deal is agreed,

  • Working with the team, to consider the activities of the industry in the context of the COP26
  • Climate conference and other aspects of the UN Sustainability Development Goals and advise how

    we respond,

  • When required, to engage / speak externally on related issues, represent the industry and the
  • organisation,

  • To manage and support forums and workgroups within the sustainability team and member
  • relations in support of the above team objectives and outcomes.

    Knowledge, Skills, Experience : (includes technical skills, professional qualifications and competencies)

  • Appropriate technical or business-related degree with relevant industrial experience
  • Knowledge of emission reporting processes and databases
  • Quantitative modelling expertise is also essential including manipulation on standard MS Office
  • packages

  • Effective change facilitator who thinks innovatively and acts decisively, adapting positively to
  • challenges

  • Ability to think clearly, creatively, analytically and insightfully and present impactfully
  • Strong listening and analytical skills enabling the absorption of complex information quickly to
  • develop a clear understanding

  • Capable communicator with oral and written fluency
  • Energy and ability to work within and across teams, to facilitate effective decision-making and
  • issues-management

  • Excellent relationship manager who influences and collaborates with peers and stakeholders to
  • deliver mutual success.
