SPS Package Engineer

The Role:
Reports to WOS Subsea Leader


The SPS Package Engineer is responsible and accountable for the safe delivery of all equipment that is included in the SPS package for the Low IR Project, on schedule and within budget. The Low IR Project is a repair of various components on the West of Shetland Subsea Infrastructure. The offshore execution takes place in Q2 2021.

The SPS Package includes the following:

  • Design, supply and Manufacturing of High Voltage Connectors
  • Design, supply and fabrication of Installation Aids
  • Design, supply and fabrication of any Temporary Power Supply
  • Design, supply and testing of any auxiliary equipment (cables, splicing qualification)


  • Participate in the Low IR Project Weekly Management Meetings.
  • Ensure that everyone working within the SPS Team (staff and contractors) understand and comply with Company health, safety and environment policies.
  • Provide safety leadership to External Contractors.
  • Encourage, by example, all team members to accept personal responsibility and accountability for actions.
  • Perform duties in accordance with safety requirements and the MAESTRO rules.
  • Ensure safe working practices are carried out within the construction activities, to minimise LTIs, incidents, dangerous occurrences and other safety items.
  • Reporting and communication

  • Report to Low IR Subsea Leader and inform of any potential problems in a pro-active manner.
  • Build strong relationships with WoS Asset Management, Drilling and WoS Field Operations teams to ensure strong lines of communication are maintained at all times.
  • Provide assistance as required in the process of communicating with any third parties.
  • Develop effective and constructive relationships with SPS Contractor representative(s) in a manner that enables a high level of value to be obtained for TEPUK.
  • Positively represent the Company at SPS Contractor’s premises and construction sites.
  • Project execution

  • Act as Company Representative towards SPS Contractors.
  • Monitor SPS Contractor’s achievements in accordance with contractual requirements, especially in the area of safety and technical expertise to ensure all Company standards are met.
  • Safely deliver the SPS package facilities on time and within budget.
  • Accept delegation of authority from the Project Manager for the management of the SPS contract.
  • Manage the day to day activities at the offices of the SPS Contractor.
  • Responsible for the engineering of all equipment/facilities included in the SPS work package.
  • Ensure that all relevant documentation created by the SPS Contractor or its suppliers is reviewed and commented on by the relevant specialists within the appropriate time frame.
  • Pro-actively manage the contract Scope of Work for SPS package.
  • Pro-actively liaise with Technology, Drilling, Operations, Contractor, Sub-Contractors, Vendors and certifying agency teams on all aspects of the project.
  • Identify and mitigate Project risks associated with the SPS Package.
  • Liaise with SURF engineer and actively contribute to the resolution of interfaces.
  • Obtain validation of the design for the SPS package.
  • Manage and Coordinate engineering/technical aspects for mobilization of subsea equipment & tooling for offshore installation.
  • Manage the preparation of the pre-commissioning and commissioning/start-up activities for the SPS package in conjunction with the SURF package.
  • Prepare/support handover to WoS Field Operations / Commissioning team.
  • Ensure that the SPS package is carried out in line with current UK regulations.
  • Review SURF mobilization and installation procedures and installation analyses

    Essential Skills / Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree level in an engineering discipline.
  • Project management experience (planning, cost control, contracting).
  • 5 years experience overall with successful experience as a package engineer or similar.
