Lead, manage and be responsible for a team of technical safety engineers & specialists.
Provide Technical expertise into risk assessment processes (ORA’s, SARA’s etc)
Provide expertise and technical input to and in cases chair/facilitate HAZID, HAZOP and SIL studies; provide specialist expertise to asset/project teams in relation to major accident hazards, QRA, safety critical elements and performance standards;
Manage updates for the operational safety case and support/defend them to peers and clients as directed by the Technical Delivery Manager/TA. Including, but not limited to: Fire Risk Analysis (FRA)/ Fire Explosion Blast Risk Analysis (FEBRA); Evacuation Escape and Rescue Analysis (EERA);Temporary Refuge Impairment Analysis (TRIA);Smoke and Gas Ingress Analysis (SGIA);Essential Systems Vulnerability Analysis (ESVA);experience of dispersion modelling/analysis, thermal radiation, gas plume analysis
Where appropriate, engage with and support external consultants & contractors to carry out specialist studies, to ensure delivery of quality safety engineering support in all relevant areas;
Plan, cost and advise the Technical Delivery Manager on resource requirements for larger engineering scopes
When called upon, participate in accident incident investigation, employing appropriate recognized techniques, to ensure root causes are identified and remedial actions implemented;
Provide advocacy in relation to technical safety improvements and deployment of new tools and techniques, to ensure good engineering practice is maintained and to promote continuous improvement as demanded by the company’s management systems.

Degree qualified or equivalent in a relevant discipline or demonstrable experience in a similar or relevant job position
Detailed knowledge and understanding of HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, QRA Bowtie techniques
Proven experience of producing quality audit reports to schedule
Work experience in major accident hazard industries in an oil and gas environment
Extensive experience of the application of safety engineering tools and techniques, particularly relating to offshore operations.
A well-organized individual with sound and effective communication skills.
Awareness of commercial and cost control issues
Sound judgement and fact-based decision making
Effective team contributor delivering against schedule driven targets and deadlines
Good Project Management skills
